Bad news for the M6ii?
5

My M6, purchased new in September 2019, recently lost its memory, and started forgetting the date/time whenever the battery is removed.

Today I took it to the Canon Service Center office in Honolulu, and got the bad news.

The problem is presumed to be a battery on the main circuit board. Parts are not available for this model, so it is not eligible for repair, only for replacement.

It will be replaced by either a refurb or, if no refurb is available, by a new camera.

The fee I was quoted is $350.

This isn't my only camera, but I have used and liked it a lot, and have some investment in EOS M lenses. So, yes, I'll bite the bullet and take the offer.

This is not good news, since I think the M6 is still the top of the line EOS M body. It seems to signal that Canon is not strongly supporting the EOS M system at this point in time. That seems to me to be a shame. Not sure if others agree, or care.
