I bought this nano USM variant (made march 2021) after 5 years of usage L version. As sharpness goes, I find nano USM lens to be better at a far focusing distance, though L lens seems to be sharper at close-up shots and portraits, L produces generally nicer, richer images, nano USM's ones are more sterile, note this is entirely subjective...
Nano USM AF is noticeably faster than L, in fact, is crazy fast, stabilization is much quieter on nano USM, while equally effective.
PS:
Canon still does not include a lens hood with nano USM, which is embarrassing really.

Having had both, the nano is a great lens, i said the same about the cheaper 24-105 lens, in my testing i preferred the cheaper 24-105 lens which is incredibly sharp. As for the L version 70-300 it cannot be beaten everything about it is just a tad better than the nano.

hello,
