I wanted to like the x-pro series and tried hard but my eyes are too demanding for me to make any good use of it.

You highlight a key point here, as do a couple of other commentators. Like a lot of people, it came as an unwanted surprise to find that my visual acuity degraded at some point after I was forty that I only peripherally acknowledged at the time. When I assessed the XP2 I failed to take this into account.

Worth noting that I have an X-E2 that I love using, especially coupled with the 18mm f/2. You would think that if I have trouble with the XP2 surely I would have problems with the XE2, but I have no such issue with it, which is difficult to rationalise. Perhaps this is because I am much more point-and-shoot with the XE2 and am therefore less demanding of it.

The X-E2 is a joy to use. I have many other bodies, including the certainly better spec'd X-T3 and Panasonic G9, both boasting a large 3.7Mp EVF, yet I can effectively use X-E2's with my collection of vintage manual lenses with an ease that's simply incredible to me..
