Lens reviews and sensor generation
1

I recently read a review of Fuji's new XF18mm f1.4 that for the purposes of the review had been paired with an XT2. On another well-known site Fuji lens' were tested on an XT1.

It left me wondering to what extent a review can be said to have accurately evaluated the performance of a lens if they are using a sensor from a previous generation. Would the lens performance of say the XF18mm f1.4 be different had it been paired with the XT4 or would the results still look similar? I can see how something like vignetting may show up regardless of the sensor used but surely things like resolving power must be affected by the sensor used.
