Are screencaps photography?

It seems more plausible than ever that with 4/8/#K @ 60+FPS video, screen grabs will be high quality and legible as standalone frames. I have pulled acceptable grabs from a 1080p video before in a pinch, but that had to be from perfect filming conditions with some moment of still. It seems less necessary now. And I never used them as 'photos' in terms of art, just to show moments from a video to curious parties.

You can just point the camera around and take what you want during playback rather than making a deliberate choice to center one particular subject at a time.

Does the stopping and the deliberate decision imbue it with more meaning?

Could you still do that for a clip and just grab your favorite moment from the bunch? That is sort of a middle ground.

At some time in the future (or now!) will there even be a point to shooting stills?
