And about M4/3

It's good to read this account. As I mentioned above, I have always preferred to use an LCD screen and, with my impending move over to M4/3, I intended to go for either an Olympus EP-L or the new EP-7. I'd been wondering, though, whether I should hedge my bets and settle for an EM10 but finding a recommendation from someone with several Pen models has reassured me. I like the EP-L's size and looks and the results seem more than acceptable, if Robin Wong's pictures with the 17mm and 45mm f1.8 lenses are anything to go by.

With the early E-PL models there was the ability to attach an optional EVF to a few different models. But on later models that ability disappeared, so it is screen or nothing.

Meanwhile the E-M10 models do have that SLR shape with an EVF built-in.

I grew up on the early E-PL1 so got used to its menu structure, now with E-P5 with slightly more complex but familiar menus I am happy. Also have the E-M10 Mk2 but as it has that EVF I don't favour it, apart for if and when I think a fully electronic shutter is needed.

I do randomly maintain some scrappy notes on some of the older Olympus Pens at

Of more interest would be my timeline at which may help sort out some of the more important features of the various models.
