No one who has the least understanding of this topic thinks that the grip extends the life of each individual battery; that must remain almost exactly the same. What is extended is the period of time between battery changes. This fact, along with the vertical orientation and gripping advantages are the main reasons people buy the grip. Continuing to state that “battery life” is not extended is misleading. Doubling of the number of shots possible (or extremely close to it) without having to change batteries is a very valuable attribute in event and other work where one is required to shoot a lot of pictures and can’t afford to miss a significant moment otherwise spent changing  batteries.
