I wasn't implying that one way was correct. I'm with you on whatever works for that person. I simply stated that when I try using the LCD it feels wrong to me, like using my phone instead of a camera. Just a weird habit I have developed.

It’s not “weird”, it’s how almost everyone used a camera pre-digital (exceptions for LF and some MF).   It’s probably not even pre-digital as most digital cameras had viewfinders up until 2005 or so
