GFX 100s - OK to use in desert heat?

Hoping someone with more experience than I can chime in.

I live in Southern Utah and its hot.  When I went out shooting some landscapes this evening it was 108 degrees.  The camera repeatedly shut down after displaying a high heat warning.  I assumed the camera would be built for such scenarios however when I got home and checked the operating temperature range I realized it only went up to 104. I used the camera for about 30 minutes.

How likely is it that I damaged the camera?  Do I really need to wait for the temperature to drop below 104 degrees to safely use the camera outside?  Would continued use at these temps (104 - 110) damage the camera long term.

Thanks for any/all feedback guys!
