Canon R for vacation

I asked this in the general forum and it was suggested to ask here:

Taking a trip to the East Coast area. Kentucky to New York. Up to the eastern states. A few museums, outside scenic views; Niagara Falls; and whatever else my wife has planned. Very light packing. I’m taking the R and thinking about lens options. I have no RF glass. I have the original 24-105 L and it is good for what it is. But it’s f4 is slow.
I was toying with the idea of the RF 35 1.8. All the big glass is sold out and I honestly don’t think I need to drop 2500 on a lens for vacation though I’ll probably get some next Fall.
I use L glass for almost everything else I do.
I have a 17-40 L; but once again, slow.
part of me wants to just take one lens and just use it well.
So, is the non L RF glass a step up from what I’ve got for this purpose?
If I got one lens and just focused on using it well?
Or, and I like this maybe: the 17-40 for the wide end and a standard fast prime for inside and nights(insure of which one) and that is all.
no zoom.
or, just the 24-105 and a fast prime.
what have you all done?

sorry for the rambling. I shoot sports primarily. My 1DX Mk II and 5D3 are getting cleaned so the R finally gets to shine.

Canon EOS 5D Mark III
