(( In-Body Stacking )) w/ the Z7 II + Z 70-200 f/2.8 S + 2x TC

So I decided to try the in-body stacking feature of the Z7 II, matched w/ the "near macro" .4x Magnification of the Z 70-200 f/2.8 S + 2x TC.

I started out w/ 1-step increments, and 10 images, but finally settled at a setting of 2-step increments, and 50 images. (I also set the camera to "0" wait time and silent shutter)

Western Banded Gecko ♂ (Coleonyx variegatus) ~ 42-image in-body stack w/ Z7 II

Western Banded Gecko ♀ (Coleonyx variegatus) ~ 34-image stack, though head movement blew the focus a bit.

Giant Wolf Spider ♀ (Hogna carolinensis) ~ 50-image, in-body stack

Giant Wolf Spider ♀ (Hogna carolinensis) ~ 55-image, in-body stack

Once you get your preferred settings down, it takes about 4 to 5 seconds to whittle off 50 shots. Usually, the subjects will remain still for that short amount of time, although sometimes not.

While this lens + TC isn't quite as sharp as a premier macro (w/ no TC), it's plenty sharp enough, and the advantage of in-body stacking is absolutely preferable to manual stacking.
