I agree with Eric’s comments. I have a Z7II and have used it to photograph birds in flight and other moving subjects. Not perfect for that, but it does pretty well on larger slower birds like eagles, herons, egrets, swans and the like. I was using a D500 and D850 when I got my Z7 a couple of years ago. There is definitely a learning curve as you go from a DSLR to a Z body. My photos got better the more I took. The Z7II is also a step up from the Z7 for subjects in motion.

You might also get some help from Thom Hogan’s ebook on the Z7II and Z6II — it’s a pretty good reference on the ZIIs and there’s a good section on autofocus and the various settings you might pick or change. Steve Perry’s ebook on Nikon Autofocus (mirrorless edition) is also helpful.
