Maybe I haven't wrote my question correctly.

I was asking why you chose to buy the eos-m3 model and not another eos-M model. Older or newer.

It was available, it was cheap, the seller called it "mint" and it looked like it would serve my purpose. My old Epson flat bed scanner (so called top of the line) finally died after many years and I am experimenting with scanning negs and transparencies using a copy stand, PixlLatr and macro camera with a fold out LCD screen for focusing. I thought a small competent camera with my Leica R mount lens to camera lens adapter might do the trick.

Early testing with the Canon EOS-M3 mated to my Leica R 60mm f/2.8 macro lens might do the job. So far it showed that the scan is superior to either my old Epson flat bed or my Plustek 35mm scanner with much less fiddling and very little post processing with either Photoshop or Lightroom.

A new flat bed scanner that I used for larger format negs and transparencies or if I bought 35mm/ 120 format dual scanner would have cost about $1200 or more. My total investment so far is about $500 or less with very nice results.

BTW, the Canon EOS-M3 is so nice, I might buy a lens for it and put it in my pocket.
