For patient folks.

Mike Lee has the same "dream" I've had. A workable, more affordable pigment printer. It also bears noting that many models of Epson printers are commonly being used for sublimation printing. Dozens of YouTube videos. The Epson print head can do dye, pigment, sublimation, edible ... inks.

How do you get the printer to produce edible inks. That is a great idea but you would have to clean the tanks that the ink that is already filled with ink or you will be eating edible and printing ink. Yuck! I had no idea there were printers that did this for edible ink.

Converting an Epson dye printer to pigment ink takes good profiling and not expecting 6 positions to equal 8-12. Proceed with caution and be willing to have it fail.

I've done this with the Epson XP-950, but it was hard to profile. Not a fan of the ink sets with LM and LC. Epson finally got on board with gray at the lower tier and I expect this printer to be great for hobbyists, as I think Keith Cooper is demonstrating. Careful profiling and paper choice.

I use 4 channel Epson WorkForce pigment printers all the time for "art" prints, understanding it won't equal an Epson P900 or Canon Pro-300.

This fellow's videos are heavy on promotion, but he is ingenious, really knows how the printers work and shows how to troubleshoot many printers:
