New "Retro" body is Corporate Counter intelligence to fool the competition

During WW2 when General George Patton was relieved of active command following his  well known incidents where he slapped cowardly soldiers,he was placed in command  of a phantom Army group that didn't exist, all part of a Allied diversion plan to draw the Germans into thinking their most feared field commander was planning to invade the Calais area and divert German forces away from the actual landings in Normandy.

Operation "Fortitude"  used a extensive and elaborate system of intelligence leaks ,Double agents, fake wireless transmissions, along with dummy tanks, fake airfields and  fake landing craft to further convince the Germans that the invasion would take place in Calais.

This rumored "Retro" body is much the same thing, just Corporate Warfare Counter intelligence to lull Sony and Canon,  who are both more than a generation ahead of Nikon in several key technological areas, into a false sense of security.

For Nikon to waste critical production resources on a whimsical and frivolous body in the interest of being "cool" when buyers can't find 2nd Gen Z bodies to buy into their system would be a suicidally stupid move, as Canon is working on the R3 and Sony has already brought the A1 to market.

I would anticipate that Nikon is going to let Canon announce specs on the R3 first and then exceed those specs at a lower price point.
