New Ninja V owner; 4:2:2 video question (X-T3)

Hi,

Very noob question I’m afraid. I’m just looking for some reassurance after forking out for the external recorder.

The XT-3 manual says:

When off is selected for HDMI Output Info display, movies will be output to the HDMI device in 4:2:2 format.

So, I assume that there’s nothing else I need to do in terms of camera settings to record on the Ninja in 4:2:2.

I would like to get some reassurance that I definitely am, because:

The Ninja V shows that UHD is coming in over HDMI but doesn’t show anything about 4:2:2.

The video files maybe look a bit better on the Ninja vs the camera - but the difference is slim. Probably that is the case, that it’s just a small improvement, but that’s another reason for me to want to see some definite confirmation somewhere that I’m getting the most out of my camera.

I wonder if there is any way to actually confirm afterwards that a file from the Ninja has been recorded in 4:2:2? For instance, any utility program that can detect it in the file?

Thanks in advance.
