Sony DSC-R1 2005 - IQ Great Enough to Still Consider Getting One in 2021?

I have heard great things about this camera from both regular users and posters here as well as read a gushing review by DPR's Phil Askey in his 2005 review who wrote that the lens alone is worth the camera's (then) price of $999.99. It still is unique - an APS-C fixed lens camera with a 5X zoom. I am wondering if it's still good enough today? My main concern is that it seems to be as big as a Nikon D3300 with its kit lens, apart from, of course, its 16-year old technology and the possible wear and tear / decay over 16 years in case of used units. How does it stack up against today's cameras that are comparable in price and size? Does it still offer any unique IQ advantage over them that can be compelling enough, especially when it only has 10.3 MP at which size many of today's cameras can probably look as good or even a whole lot better when downsized?
