Well, I dunno what did, except that I went into Chrome itself and told it again that it was my default browser; but it's come straight.

Perhaps someone was praying for me.

Honi the Circle Drawer, maybe.

In your Outlook 2019, were the website links represented in blue? When my emails arrive from people who send with "do not hyperlink" option, website links are regular black. This I'm sure is a security enhancement to force more-thoughtful copy and paste.

If they were blue, then it sounds like memory corruption or a software bug. I've seen blue links not activate when the network is in poor condition, e.g. WiFi overloaded with a W10 update my wife is doing. But that's not your case, if copy and paste worked.

No, there was nothing funny about the hyperlinks that way. They were from senders who really wanted me to open them, in all the cases.

Somehow it was not sufficient for me to confirm in Windows that Chrome was my default, as I did at least once. I had to confirm that setting in Chrome itself. I do suspect the Windows update of just over a day ago. Edge is v. persistent in edging itself in!
