Anyone else experiment with the 24-70 f/4 as an amateur macro substitute?

I’ve never been into macro photography, but lately have dipping my toes in the water.

Along the way, I discovered the 24-70 f/4 can get unexpectedly close to subjects while still focusing, even when zoomed in to 70mm.

Not having the budget for a true macro right now (I have this lens, along with the 50 and 85 1.8 S), I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the 24-70mm as a substitute until a true macro can be added to the collection

Anyone else experiment with this lens in this way, or am I just so amateur with macro photography that I think it does a better job than it actually does? Lol
