That camera and others similar to it will give you photo and video quality that’s likely somewhat worse than a typical high-end smartphone, and probably won’t do very well in any lighting other than broad daylight unless you are willing to carry a tripod. However, it does have that long zoom, which can capture distant details that no smartphone can. So it’s a trade off.

Those superzoom cameras are a lot of fun as long as you keep in mind their limitations.

Other superzoom cameras in that price range include the Panasonic ZS100 and ZS200, and the Sony HX99.

There are compact cameras that offer much better image quality even in dim interiors, but they aren’t cheap and don’t have the big zoom. A few cameras have a bigger zoom or but they aren’t compact at all. Then there are inexpensive cameras with great image quality that aren’t compact. That leaves you with few choices!
