What does this new HDR capability do for viewing our GFX raw files?

HDR is a presentation technology, not an editing one, except that you need HDR capability in an editor to proof your work. Is HDR a useful target for MF files? Why not? It will show off the DR. But editing your files for a medium that is not in wide use is probably not a good idea unless you can control the presentation device.

Yes. Brilliant hard hitting response. I see it. But few others do and it can mess with your editing if you fine tune it for what you are seeing on that kind of incredible monitor. That is a problem with high res MF files. What are people viewing them on?

Eventually in a print right? Even the highest resolution monitors can't display all of the detail available in a GFX file when the image is viewed as a whole, or fit to the screen. I would love to display my photos on a 50+" 12k HDR display, but such things don't seem to exist.

then the question would be how much better 12k would be than 8 to the human eye...

That's a good point. In theory the human eye isn't going to resolve more than 8k at reasonable viewing distances. I still wouldn't mind having a 4:3 50" 8k display.

For 32" something like  5120x3840 the minimum acuity distance goes below minimum distance , so I guess that should be good enough resolution
