This was my entry to this thread.
I don't know what was the reason for all this.I didn't even post a question.
Actually, my post has to do more with the improvement of the modern NR software rather than the D700 and its Iso capabilities.

"I don't know if that says anything but this is a test shot with my D700 (12,1mpx) at ISO 8000!! No editing. The lens is the old Nikon 28-105 AF-D f/3,5-4,5
Just RAW to jpeg and then an automatic noise reduction through "DeNoise Ai" software.
It looks to me like an iso 400 shot. Very clear and full of details."

Thank you for your input in this thread.

Originally I started this thread to find out if a consensus was possible regarding the influenced on noise in FF sensors (and "crop sensors") by pixel count / pixel size. Also if smaller sensors would have more noise than FF, (not accounting for size of lenses)

When  you later introduced the question of noise reduction I got interested in that issue and wrote "let's discuss noise reduction" . I placed a question to you in the (already quite long) thread, whether your NR is usable (and working well) for jpeg shooters and as a plugin:

PS Nick, what was the NR program you use, and is it a plugin, usable in Photoshop (and possibly in PSP X5) shooting jpeg?

Jahn

PS probably not anything for jpeg shooters?
