OK, this is the first photo I'll post from my test images today with the Canon M50 Mark II. I did eventually get used to the settings and I think everything in the menu is like I want (or close to what I want).

A little story first....

I normally don't change lenses but buy as many cameras as I want to match the lenses I want to use. But since I'm just starting with only one mirrorless camera and two EF-M lenses, I'm forced to change lenses if I want to use both of them. So today while walking around I find a picnic table with benches to sit down. It had been raining but the rain stopped. At this location it was convenient to swap lenses. It reminded me why I don't like to change lenses...careful to not drop the camera, lenses or lens cap...setting everything down in clean spots...put in the new lens...making sure the lens cap is secure on the removed lens...putting the removed lens back in the bag...hoping that the rain will stay stopped...continuing to not drop the camera and lens etc. Just within seconds of me changing the EF-M 15-45mm lens to the EF-M 55-200mm lens this male Red-winged Blackbird lands next to me on the adjacent picnic table. It was close enough so that I only had to crop to about 12 megapixels before resizing. I straightened it slightly. But I did not change the lighting.

So there you have it...my first posted image from the Canon M50 Mark II. I had the Tamron 150-600mm lens connected to a Canon DSLR camera in another bag, but I must be at least 10 feet away from the subject (for the G1 model) for it to focus. I might have been too close...not sure. It was convenient for me to test this mirrorless system anyway.

To upload the images I wanted to use a cable but didn't have the type required. So I put the memory card in the card reader I had on my computer. I don't think I had ever tested that card reader. I have been using the USB cable for years, so I minimize the damage of the camera or memory card with removing and reinstalling. I never had problems with damaging the ports as I'm careful to not force anything too hard etc. It's just the way I do things but I know not everyone does it that way. But hey, I got it to work one way or another.

I also ordered two lens hoods yesterday. I dislike cleaning my lenses every time it rains. I have soft cloths just in case. I'll probably order another Canon M50 Mark II...maybe wait until next month. I'm really impressed with the small sizes. I still like the OVF over the EVF viewfinder. I think I can brighten the EVF viewfinder in the menu which may help some.

I tested the video on M50 using the viewfinder. It was great. I like that little black and red button on top that we can push to record. I could keep the camera pretty steady and level except we had a terribly hard wind coming directly at me. So I took video of the wind swinging around the tree branches on either side of me. The lake with the wind-caused white caps was in front and the rain clouds in the background by the mountains, When I find something more interesting to video, I look forward to using it again.

I hope you liked my story and image. Now, I got lots more post processing to do. Thank you all for your stories too and sharing with me your experiences.
