Test results regarding voice recording mics and Audacity editing

So, probably everyone already knows about this but I thought I would share it anyway for people recording their voice overs for their videos. I'm using a Rode NT-USB microphone but it should apply to many microphones

For a long time I was just mostly just using unmodified voice for my voice-overs. My edits in Audacity were: noise reduction, removal of weird sounds like loud breathing, and reducing gaps. The quality was pretty good. However, sometimes there would be some really annoying clicks like mouth sounds.

These are almost impossible to remove. You can do it tediously in Audacity but if there are many, the process is impractical. (It has a 'click removal tool' but I have found that setting useless).

The main way to reduce these is to move farther away from the microphone. They don't carry very well. However, I was hesitant to move farther away because of the drop in voice closeness and bass.

Today, I did a test where I moved farther away but used the equalizer (Effect > Equalization) in Audacity and brought up the bass a little like so:

I don't think the treble part matters that much. Just a little bit of bass this way (and it would depend on your recording setup and microphone) made the sound as good as being closer to the mic in terms of bass and even better sounding overall because it had less clicks and other weird sounds. So...it's probably a pretty basic thing but I suggest experimentation. I can't believe I didn't think of this before but it's an order of magnitude improvement.
