If they're adamant about IBIS, then get the X-S10 with 16-80. That's a pretty well spec'd setup and would cover most of the requirements.

Fair point, a bit early to be getting GAS. I'll say perhaps go with a lower end stuff (but buy well so the resale won't hurt too much if you upgrade). He is OK for money, and he sees going Full Frame Mirrorless as the "premium" option which of course would cost thousands more (if you want F1.4 or lower primes)
