I would like to get a 70-300mm lens for my D3100 Nikon camera, however, I can only find AF-P lenses that are not compatible with my camera. To work on mine they need to have a built-in autofocus motor. Nikon AF-S lenses are quite expensive though.

Trying to stay on budget, are those lenses any good for a D3100 camera? Do they have the build-in motor? and if not, are they worth it?

...

Any other lens I might have missed?

Thanks in advance

I used a AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR for many years with a D3200 and a D7200.  It is a very good lens, light and inexpensive.
