Hello everyone. I recently started looking at the canon M series to act as a travel camera/lightweight alternative to my DSLR setup. Sometimes I want the same functionality, but don't want to lug around my DSLR, with big lenses. I would mainly use it for landscape and street/cityscape photography. I won't be using it for any videos so the angle of the flippy screen isn't important to me.

I know it's a "how long is a piece of string" question, but I was just looking for people's opinions on whether the M6 or M5 still stood up in 2021 or if it's worth waiting for the M6 ii to drop in price more. Given that this would be my secondary or tertiary camera I don't need it to be all singing and dancing.

I've found a fairly good deal on an M5 that includes the 15-45mm lens and the EF-M adapter. As I currently shoot with the 760D that would allow me to use all my lenses and importantly use the same batteries too. Would I notice any/many upgrades compared with my 760D?

Yes. It has a very dependable 24mp. I took a lot of photos with it, up to the range of ISO6400. They are light and capable. I'd say in terms of portability alone, these cameras are still worth buying.
