A Whirlpool in the making since 2019

This image is made from images from my Canon 6D Mark II (45 at 3 minutes each from 2019) and QHY36C (2020 and 2021, 56 at 5 minutes) for a total of 6 hours and 55 minutes of imaging time on this target.

It's been cloudy and rainy here for far too long.

There's a Lunar eclipse coming up on the May 26, 2021 at 08:47:39 UTC (aka Greenwich Mean Time). Check your location to confirm date/time (International Dateline might mean different dates for example). Don't forget to convert UTC to your local time (ex. US Central Time Zone during Daylight Saving Time is -5 so: 8:47am - 5:00 hours = 3:47am).

It's looking like we're going to have 100% cloud coverage here.

Here's an example from January 2019 of the most recent Lunar eclipse, the upcoming one should have more of the Moon in darkness than this:
