It's Slow

I have Adobe Lightroom subscription, but DPP is what I use. The skintone is just way better, especially in high ISO shots.

I run both a Dell Alienware AMD Ryzen 9 3900 (12-Core) and a 16" MacBook Pro with i9 (8-Core), and they are both slow.  DPP just lightly touches the MacOS GPU, and my NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER is mostly idle.  GPU acceleration is enabled in settings/preferences, so it is just CPU bound.  Ironically, CPUs get used but never hit 100% in both machines, in both real time adjustments or batch processing.  Iit also does not use too much RAM either.

My advice is to get the fastest CPU you can afford with SSD.  Memory and graphic card do not seem to matter much.  For comparison, my 1DX and 5D4 files process faster.  Even an R5 file is 2x as large, it takes at least 4x as long to process.
