STC Fogrip L-bracket / grip extender Q?

Has anyone used one of the STC Fogrip plates / L-bracket / grip extenders? I've been intrigued by their stuff even before I started shooting Sony, looks like one of the slimmest L brackets around which I always appreciate...

I do have two small concerns tho, a random Camera Jabber review says the fold out grip flap is slightly uncomfortable when folded in, since the corners stick out in the direction of the camera grip... Not sure if that's something I'd get used to or if the flap is quick enough to open frequently with one hand.

Second concern I've got is the vertical dovetail plate... On the photos where it's mounted on a tripod it almost looks like I might be wrong about this but on the side profile pics it looks like it barely reaches the middle of the lens mount. It's obviously done that way for maximum port accessibility with minimum bulk.

My worry is that it might be so short I wouldn't be able to mount the camera so it's centered above my clamp, and that would get annoying when shooting vertically to stitch panoramas, which is half the reason I use an L plate to begin with (even w/mini tripods).

FWIW I'm using a 3LT Ellie right now, the version with the PD Capture plate built in... I often leave the larger vertical dovetail off anda attach it only when necessary.
