Panasonic Hcv180

Hi,

I read a review of the Panasonic Hcv180 which said the start up time to record was 5 seconds. I asume this means  the time from opening the monitor to beginning to record.

On the face of it, this could mean missing a fleeting glimpse of wildlife. I am currently using a Panasonic sdr s 50. I have never tried to time the start up time, but it's fine in practice.

Unfortunately, the sdr s50 won't burn a DVD on my DVD recorder and the cost of professional burning is mounting up. So I need a compatible camcorder.

Is the start up time to record in fact much the same for the Hcv180 and the sdr s50 ? I have a feeling it might be.

The sdr s50 has 78 optical zoom. Are the zoom facilities of the two models, disregarding digital zoom, roughly the same in finding distant  small objects such as birds  with good clarity ?

If the Hcv180 is ok for start up time and zoom,  I will get one

Thanks.

Nikon Coolpix S50
