Storing and Processing Larger Photos ....

My new FujiFilm GFX 100S camera has accelerated a strategy review of how I store and process my image files for greatest efficiency and security.

I have a MacBook Pro, 2016
- processor 2.7GHz Quad Core i7
- memory 16GB 2133 MHz
- Graphics Radeon Pro 460 4GB
- 1 TB flash storage

I use Lightroom (LR) 80% and Photoshop (PS) 20% processing workload ratios.

I currently keep my files / folders / catalog on the MacBook 1TB flash storage but its over 75% full now and with my GFX 100S RAF images @ 100+ MB I don't have too long to solve this problem. I use Lossless 14 bit storage after reading advice on this forum.

I backup various ways via Time Machine, Regular external drive copies and part of the machine mirrors in my iCloud although NOT the photo RAFs, NEFs or catalogues.

I am finding the GFX 100S files quite slow to process even after building the 1 to 1 previews in LR.

1. How do others store and manage the files e.g. on local hard drives, remote drive, cloud or hybrid (part local / part remote / part cloud)?

2. Is remote hard drive storage SSD or HDD with real time access via Thunderbolt 3.0 or USB 3.0 for LR / PS processing fast enough ?

3. What spec Apple or other computers are people using ? E.g. do people load up extra memory and / or flash storage disk .. how much etc ??

4. Any comments on backup ?

5. Clearly any approach needs to work while traveling for a few weeks away from a base setup ?

Sorry for so many questions, any input to any of the above points is much appreciated.
