Yes it does but its not very easy to select images in a range
You might look at X-plore (Lonely Cat) - it's a free dual pane file manager that may take some getting used to - but does this:
https://www.lonelycatgames.com/docs/xplore/multi-selection
(It's also very good at displaying the folder systems of a number of cloud storage services.)
I agree! X-plore is an *excellent* file manager, but does take some getting used to and can feel a little "clunky." But if you can get used to that, it will do LOTS of things. It has lots of settings that I'm still finding, even though I've used it extensively for years. It's my go-to file manager on my Chromebook, and I have it on my Samsung phone as well.
To select images in a range, you have to click to expand a folder, then when all the files list individually, click the checkmark beside first one you want, and then scroll to the last file you want and long-press its checkmark. Everything in the middle will be selected.
I suggest downloading it and playing around with it to get used to how it works. Maybe put a bunch of stuff on a flash drive, or make some duplicate folders on your phone and play with them, because at first, I was often doing some things I didn't intend to do.
What I really like about the file explorer for my Chromebook (which takes Android apps) is that it recognizes duplicate files and asks you, like any good file manager should, whether you want to re-write over them, skip them, make another copy etc. But, the Chromebook default file manager will ALWAYS just copy with a (1) at the end if you're copying something that already exists in the destination folder. X-plore also allows you to batch rename, with some sophisticated options, and a bunch of other handy stuff. It's a very good file manager to have for those times when you want to do something a little fancier than your phone (and, in my case, Chromebook) will do with your default file manager.
