Did you use electronic shutter too, so as not to startle him with the sound? That's a great feature on the R. I like the fact that you can use e-shutter in burst mode too (unlike the M6II, where it's limited to single shot, unless you use the 18MP RAW burst mode).

It's the photographers curse: If taking the shot feels painful then the image will become exciting and worthwhile.

With the 35 mm you need to be very close to have macro magnification.

Never thought about the electronic shutter on the Eos R, will need to test it sometime. The mechanical shutter is not too noisy though. On the M6II i never used it either i believe, i did a test with high speed burst mode but never used it practically.
