Impatient

I'm not shooting nearly as much as I used to.  Mostly youth sports, occasionally portrait work for friends and family (1000-3000 images at time).  I do limited post processing in lightroom.   I'm working on a 4+ yr old midrange intel based desktop - 16gb ram, ssd... but no dedicated Video/GPU.
I get impatient waiting for Lightroom to process: importing, creating initial thumbnails, and exporting.  (My process... I typically copy from micro sd to C: - import into lightroom, process and export on c:. Then copy to destination - usb, NAS, web.
My question for the group - who understand processing constraints / demands for Lightroom, is there any value gains with new hardware?   I understand GPUs are gold right now... where's the best bang for the buck.

Definitely a 1st world problem.
