SD Card Video Test using EM10 Mark II
1

I recorded continuously for 22 minutes using 1920 x 1080p 60 fps Super Fine compression.

I got two large 3.87 GB files and one small file. i.e. - after recording a 3.87 GB file, it automatically creates a new file and continues recording. It does NOT reach the alleged 4 GB file size limit, at least not in my test. It seems the limit is actually 3.87 GB, but it's not a problem.

I was able to record 10 min 45 seconds of video in each 3.87 GB file.

Note: Super Fine is approx equivalent to IPB compression (I read at a video site).

One thing of interest is that my new 32 GB Sandisk Extreme (U3 V30 video rating) SD cards have NOT arrived yet from Amazon. I ran the test using an older, slower 32 GB Sandisk Ultra (U1 video rating) SD card. The old Sandisk Extreme U1 card handled it well.

I'm surprised to find that a Sandisk Ultra U1 card can handle recording 1080p 60 fps SF for long videos (longer than clips for sure). There is no need for a faster U3 or V30 rated card. Also, the 32 GB storage size is far more than enough. There's no need for faster or larger card.

That said, I've already ordered the Sandisk Extreme cards. I guess after I get them, I might try recording All-I, but I'm now wondering if my old Sandisk Ultra U1 cards might be able to record 1080p 60 fps All-I.

My advice to people is that if you have a 16 GB card, it's more than large enough for storing video from Oly cameras. If your card is rated U1 it's more than fast enough.

I suggest don't waste money needlessly upgrading SD cards like I did. I should have tested before ordering newer, faster cards. If I had tested before, I would not have wasted my money needlessly ordering new cards.
