Shimming adapter / which glue to use?

Hopefully this is the right forum, otherwise please move this question into the right forum.

I am considering shimming an adapter for my Sony A7 series cameras. I already ordered copper plates in different thickness and a knife to cut pieces out of them. However, it just came up in my mind that using glue to fix shimming pieces on the adapter might be a bad idea. I am afraid that chemicals in the glue might harm my lenses or the sensor in the camera. I had searched the internet and I read several instructions on shimming, but the topic of fixing these pieces on the adapter seemed not to be addressed.

For example here:

https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/534137-shimming-a-lens-adapter/

or here:

https://phillipreeve.net/blog/tuning-adapters-infinity-focus-reflections/

Has anyone experiences with shimming an adapter? How to fix the shimming material on the adapter?

Thank you very much in advance for any advice.

Michael
