Secure comfortable setup for hiking

I'm looking for something that allows me to easily access a mirrorless Sony Alpha with varying lens sizes (up to maybe 4-5" long at most - like 18-105 or 70-200) probably on my chest. I carry hiking stick(s) so a free hand or preferably two is important. A dual strap "backpack on the front" style isn't ideal when you have a 40lb backpack on your back. Something cushioned (quasi-drop resistant) and easy to access quickly when I see a cool animal or my kids do something funny is also important.

With all that said, anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks!
