Soft focus look on Nikon d750: lens or filters?

Hello guys. I'm a bit confused with the whole soft/diffusion filter/lens stuff. I'll be brief.

- my gear: nikon d750 (FF), 35mm nikon fx lens (58mm filter size)

- what i shoot: people on the streets (close to mid range) and other stuff outdoors

- whats the problem. my lens and camera are nice but too sharp for my taste. i want the WHOLE image to be more soft, less sharp (like instant film sharp or loreo cap lens look but maybe a bit sharper (see below)). also i want to add some imperfections maybe / subtle dreamy effect is welcome. i DONT MIND LOOSING SOME DETAILS. i soften my shots in post anyways.

- how can you help. can you please answer the following questions:

  1. soft lens or soft filter? the effect will be different? whats better?
  2. can you recommend some cheap/funny/extreme soft lenses/filters and also some good ones? it will be ideal if the lenses fit nikon f mount
  3. maybe you can suggest some other interesting filters with similar effects? i'm a newbie so i dont know much

- examples:

nikon soft filter. i like it. but i dont mind more extreme variations (see below). also i'm not exactly sure if there is a 58mm filter size

i very like this image. it was shot on Loreo lens cap (crappy body cap lens). I've already ordered this one but i need some stuff to compare it with. author: https://www.instagram.com/dirtyharrrry/

also shot on Loreo lens cap. author: https://www.instagram.com/dirtyharrrry/
