I decided that small size and weight, a good zoom range and good enough (for me) image quality pointed me towards the Sony RX100 vii, so that is what I got.  It does what I wanted, and I'm happy with the results, and it's certainly nice not to notice I'm carrying a camera.  I would say the images are on a par with my m4/3 kit.

I do photo mostly static or slow moving objects in good light. In fact, for my purposes, I could probably have managed with the vi version and saved some money, but that's just me wanting the best tech for my criteria.

If you do think about the Sony RX100, do try to make sure you are happy with the handling.  I have fairly small hands and it works for me, but it may not for everyone.
