Peter Iredale ship wreck
1

The Peter Iredale, a 4 mast barque, ran aground October 25, 1906 and has been a tourist attraction here in Oregon ever since. Here are some photos I took last week at low tide.

Only 3 of the 4 masts are still visible above the sand. The ship was 287 feet long.

A remnant of the second mast.

4 photographers. Besides me and my R5, a phone on the left, a Nikon on the right, and a 5D2 with 100-400 in the background.

During world war 2 scrap metal drives, a lot of steel was removed from the ship.

A 2007 photo with my 30D at sunset. Storms alternately expose and then cover up what remains of the Peter Iredale.

Some interesting history in this article.
