Sounds like we approach this aspect quite similarly. A clarification on what I mean by "backup" though...

A backup body does provide disaster recovery if the pics must be captured. But it can also backup functionality with "extra" functionality. A live spare.

For example: if I'm shooting soccer, it's great to have two live bodies with 400GM and 70-200GGM (or 135GM) fitted. A9 and A7riv work ok together, but A9 and A1 would be much better. Speed.

Similar in nature/wildlife but croppability may be the biggest need there. A7riv and A9 work well as a pair but A7riv and A1 would be better here.

My earlier post referenced "backup" in that broader sense.
