Smartphones a Gateway to Conventional Cameras?
1

Even those who despise, as I do, the rise and culture of asstablets as cameras simply must concede that they have legitimately devoured the casual point & shoot market.

They'll never defy physics enough to become anything more, but the strides in IQ they've made in the past 15 years combined with their ubiquity have made ironclad their position as everybody's casual picture taker.

But those who for some reason wish to explore a more purposeful and capable approach to photography are still arriving at the marketplace, or so it seems from the many requests in these forums for help in selecting a "first camera".

Are phones ultimately a significant recruitment device for dedicated cameras?
