As a young man in the 1970s and early 80s, I coveted small, high quality rangefinder cameras. I always liked the idea that a photograph taken on such a camera was virtually indistinguishable from one taken on an expensive SLR - they had the same 'sensors' after all! I've kept an eye open for these in the past seven or eight years and have bought, in charity shops, the following, which I couldn't afford when they were new:

Canon QL17,  Ricoh 500G,  Yashica Electro GTN,  Konica C35,  Minox 35,  Minolta HI-matic F, Yashica Minister,  plus a few older models which I didn't covet originally but couldn't pass up for a few pounds, like a Voigtländer Vito B and a Vest Pocket Kodak. These are mostly past their best so sit on display shelves, but a few months ago, I took a chance on a Panasonic FZ8 bridge camera from about 2008 for £15. Works fine and fills in on the rare occasions when I need a long lens.
