Something similar with the evolution of Olympus SLR Forum as full four-thirds migrated to micro-four-thirds. At the time, I do think Olympus paid serious attention to the old mount and sincerely tried for the new cameras to be workable with the older lenses as much as possible.  I guess Sony has tried with the many adapters.

I've asked a few questions recently and have gotten excellent responses.

I'd like to try the higher end A-mount cameras, but I don't see end of life prices on eBay. I've always been interested in the SLT cameras from a technological standpoint.

It is rare for the OEMs to really try something different:

Sony: SLT

Fuji: Hybrid OVF viewfinder.

Sigma: Foveon sensor.

Ricoh: Modular camera.

What irritates me more with the latest and greatest is how little attention seems to be paid to good manual focus with the lenses and cameras. The OEMs seem in a race to emulate a video camera above all else, yet afraid of incorporating lessons from the smart phone.
