Venus Laowa 100mm 2:1 macro - difference to indicated aperture at 1:1 and 2:1?
1

I just got the Venus Laowa 100mm 2.8 2:1 Nikon F mount with aperture ring.

How many more stops is the lens stopped down when set to 1:1 and 2:1?

Other macro lenses I've used usually end up just under 2 stops more than indicated at 1:1. I am guessing that the Laowa is around 1.5 stops at 1:1 and a further 1.5 stops at 2:1 - so at an indicated f/5.6 lens is around f/9.5 at 1:1 and f/16 at 2:1.

I am trying to figure out what aperture I should set on the aperture ring while trying to keep the actual aperture below f/16 to limit diffraction when shooting 2:1

Thanks.
