I do some corporate headshots by subcontract, and Karen above provided very good, succinct advice. Master using 2-3 remote strobes and have a simple, light and very-portable lighting kit. You may be at the mercy of the client (location and time frame).

In the case of top executives, they're usually busy and you might only get a few minutes. So, practice with your mobile setup(s) to cover various situations so you can get set up quickly if pressed.

Group shots, obviously, have so much variation (size, location, lighting) that your best bet is to take the advice others gave and study and learn from what others have done (not necessarily copy verbatim). Practice, practice practice. Good luck!
