Lightroom question

In Lightroom Classic, I highlight a image and press ctrl+e to edit the original in Photoshop. When I am done, I just the original file (overwriting the original one).

Sometimes, the image in LR got updated right the way reflecting the change. But sometimes it doesn't with the old image still in the library and in the Loupe enlarge mode.

What is the proper way to make sure LR has the latest update, short of deleting it from the library and re-synch the folder?
