After fighting this problem.for months, ingot into the habit of carrying a "small" pocket rocket blower with me and to use it on the sensor and inner surfaces of my lens EVERY time I change the lens. Once a week I shoot a test image using a optidisk (i think that is its name) to be a neutral grey image and, so far, if I find any spot, I have been successful cleaning the sensor with a larger rocket blower.

You might be thinking of the ExpoDisc. That's what I use. It's great for giving a flat field, no matter where you point the camera. It's also perfect for its intended purpose of creating a custom WB and metering for a standard reflectance of a scene. It's an invaluable tool to me.
