M10-R vs SL2

Hi. I have been researching to understand about various Leica bodies and lenses. I found good info both from this forum and links provided in an earlier post I made.

I now have this question about the two models in subject. I searched online but did not find any results written by experienced users. I just came up with a bunch of sites that show automated comparisons of specs (search bots, may be).

The M10-R is 40MP rangefinder priced around $9K, while the SL2 is 47MP ML priced around $6.5K. Their body styles are quite different.

Could you tell me briefly about the respective design philosophies and appeals?

Are their sensors from a Sony-like mass manufacturer or, are they Leica's own sensors?

Other than the mount difference, is it fair to say that the M is Leica's own classic design while the SL is ML derived from Panasonic designs?

Any other significant thoughts?

Thanks.
